As Hydrogen projects move further into development, technology solutions are needed to tackle the unique engineering challenges that these projects bring. This event will be the second of a series highlighting solutions in this space, this time : Pipeline Infrastructure.

Hydrogen
This is why this event's topic is important: At Darcy we've covered solutions all the way down the Hydrogen value chain, with an educational group of events, articles, and frameworks comparing technologies in Hydrogen production, storage and transport, and end-use. Now, with the push of recent financial incentives, more companies are moving into actual project development and implementation in the Hydrogen space. With this move, technology solutions that solve unique engineering challenges that arise in hydrogen project implementation are becoming increasingly important to look into. In this series of events,we will cover technologies such as hydrogen specific compressors, sensors, flow meters, pipelines/pipeline coatings to combat embrittlement, purification technology, and more. In our inaugural Engineering Challenges Event we covered the interesting topic of storage infrastructure, and in this event we will be covering the massive infrastructure challenges of Hydrogen transmission/distribution in pipeline infrastructure.
This is why the technology is important: Due to the chemical differences of hydrogen, there are major infrastructure considerations with storage and transport that need to be considered, even in blending applications. Many utilities have started planning for feasibility studies to understand the effect blending hydrogen into vintage infrastructure would have, but solutions are needed from new compressor equipment, leakproof valves, integrated leak detection devices, different welding techniques, materials, and even pipeline retrofits.
Today we will be highlighting two vendors in the pipeline infrastructure space: Oceanit, who develops a pipeline coating to facilitate blending, successfully deployed with Hawaii gas, and SmartPipe, a pipeline company developing fiber reinforced composite pipe with integrated sensing and a novel trenchless installation system.
Who should join this event? Are you looking into blending or 100% hydrogen transport and interested in the technologies available for making existing infrastructure compatible with this new gas? Then this event is for you!
