What is Darcy Research?
The Research Team provides unique insights about emerging technologies to Darcy’s customers, primarily via three key channels:
1. Darcy Live – weekly events that showcase the most exciting emerging technology companies and address strategic technology areas
2. Darcy Connect – a unique and proprietary software platform that allows customers to connect with innovators and fellow members and access the world's most curated energy tech startup database
3. Darcy Concierge – Darcy’s Research Team collaborates with customers to solve pressing technology priorities while also ensuring that content can be utilized for the benefit of other Darcy members
As a Research Associate focused on Production Engineering, you’ll work closely with startups in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You’ll be leading the research and delivery of insights on topics such as artificial lift and production optimization, flow assurance, downhole instrumentation and monitoring technologies, well integrity, and more to support some of the most innovative energy companies looking to access, vet, and deploy technologies.
What Will You Do?
- You'll uncover customer challenges and technology needs by engaging closely with our members
- You'll engage innovative technology providers and startups to deeply understand their solutions, shaping your perspectives on the most beneficial technologies for our members
- You’ll prepare and host Darcy Live events that foster connections and knowledge-sharing
- You'll distill complex info into actionable, proprietary frameworks, accelerating innovation efforts for our members
- You'll collaborate daily within a cross-functional team to collectively exceed customer success goals
- You'll actively use Darcy Connect, continuously enhancing user experiences and platform content
What Will You Need?
- Relevant academic background in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 4-8 years of direct experience as a Production Engineer in Upstream O&G settings (Unconventionals experience is considered a plus), with specific involvement in areas such as, but not limited to:
o Artificial lift design, operation, and optimization (experience across a diverse array of artificial lift technologies like ESPs, gas lift, rod lift, plunger lift, jet pumps will be considered an assets
o Flow assurance and production chemistry
o Chemical stimulation programs
o Well surveillance and data analytics for production optimization
o Surface and subsurface systems integration
o Production forecasting and troubleshooting
o Equipment sizing and selection (e.g., separators, pumps, compressors)
o Produced water treatment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical information
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely
- Exceptional project management skills, with a focus on organization of multiple projects, strong attention to detail, meeting tight deadlines, and delivering quality work under pressure, ensuring that deliverables are always on time and meet or exceed expectations
- Familiarity with technology scouting and market intelligence, and the ability to synthesize complex technical information for senior leadership and clients
- Adept at building cross-functional relationships, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders
