About this Event
Founded in 2015, Activate Global Inc. is a nonprofit organization that partners with U.S.-based funders and research institutions to support research fellows. Activate’s entrepreneurial fellowship model originated at Cyclotron Road, a program of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and founding Activate partner. Activate supports innovation across a number of verticals including carbon management.
For this session we will host an innovator sprint alongside Activate focused on CO2 storage and utilization.
About the Innovators
Our presenting innovators will be:
- Cella is a CO₂ storage company that injects CO₂ into underground basaltic rock formations. Their solution works by injecting CO2 in liquid form in mafic and ultramafic formations that are rich in calcium and magnesium. The CO2 reacts with the underground formation solidifying.
- Tensora developed a novel solution to CO2 Storage sensing by measuring the deformation caused by underground pressure changes, allowing real-time monitoring of geologic storage operations. Tensora’s approach combines cutting-edge analysis with ultra-high-resolution fiber-optic sensing through innovations in Michelson Interferometry - the technology used to detect gravitational waves.
- Turnover Labs is producing a robust and adaptable systems for chemical manufacturers to recycle their emissions on-site. Turnover's proprietary technology reduces the cost of CO2 utilization by producing chemicals out of dirty CO2 emissions without the need for significant emissions cleanup.
