First-of-its-Kind eFuels Production Facility: combining CO2 and H2 with Siemens Energy
Strategy • August 29, 2023 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM GMT
Markus Speith from Siemens Energy will join to discuss the Haru Oni project, which demonstrates a broad spectrum of innovative, climate-relevant technologies at one location, including the production of synthetic fuel from water, wind energy and biogenic CO₂.

Summary Agenda

About the Topic

Haru Oni is the first integrated, commercial, industrial-scale efuels project worldwide. The objective of the project is to produce low carbon gasoline (eGasoline) and eMethanol via electrochemical and synthesis processes. On the one hand, the process will produce clean hydrogen via electrolysis using wind energy and on the other hand, it will use biogenic or captured atmospheric CO2. These would then be combined to form the fuels mentioned above.

As such, the Haru Oni project is the first-of-its-kind in the world and most importantly, in Latin America, with project partners being Siemens Energy (our speakers for this session), ExxonMobil, ENEL, ENAP, Porsche, and HIF (the project lead).

About the Speaker

Markus Speith is the Siemens Energy project lead for the Haru Oni project. Markus has been with Siemens and Later Siemens Energy since the late 90's, holding a variety of roles including the Head of Business Development for eLNG, as a project director, and currently as the Head of Solution Development, Sustainable Energy Systems.
