About the Topic
The carbon mineralization space has gained increased support among the carbon capture and utilization technologies because it represents another solution to permanently store CO2 beyond subsurface storage. Since Class VI well approvals can take up to ~2 years, many companies are exploring solutions that are available now to store the carbon they may capture. Lastly, in this carbon utilization solution, not only CO2 emissions are stored but also solid waste streams are used to produce valuable end products.
Within this technology space, we can find two main groups: first, those companies working to decrease the emissions of cement production on-site (by improving efficiency of the process itself or producing lower carbon cement), and then those actively using CO2 in parts of the process (either as a curing agent or for construction materials). The focus of this Event is the latter.
About the Audience
This Event is aimed at those groups looking to decarbonize and utilize CO2 open to potential new business lines within the construction materials space. It could be of interest for those organizations that have operation in industrial areas with nearby construction facilities, or for those upstream operators looking to use a lower carbon cement for their well casing.
About the Innovator
CarbonCure is a carbon utilization technology company deploying its carbon mineralization solution across the global cement and concrete industry. Its technology introduces captured CO2 into fresh concrete to reduce its carbon footprint. Once injected, the CO2 immediately mineralizes and becomes permanently embedded, keeping it out of the atmosphere for centuries while maintaining the concrete’s performance and compressive strength. This mineralization also enables concrete producers to safely reduce carbon-intensive cement content in each mix, with 50 metric tons of CO2 avoided for every 1 mineralized metric ton. With one-day installation by CarbonCure and no disruption to operations, the technology can be retrofitted onto any wet or dry batch ready mix plant providing seamless integration with existing batching software.
