Carbon Markets play an essential role in today's world. Many companies are subject to compliance markets, whereas many others want to voluntarily join and help decarbonize their industries while also providing a positive impact to their location areas. During this session, we will address how companies subject to either market can participate in the market, either by purchasing carbon offsets or developing projects themselves.

ABOUT THE EVENT
The topic of Carbon Markets is broad and can be assessed under different lights. During 2022 we covered the topic in a technical session, addressing the need to rate offsets to ensure the purchase of good quality carbon offsets. In this session we intend to address a different aspect, we look to understand how companies can join the market from 2 aspects:
- Purchasing Direct Carbon Removal (DCR) offsets
- Getting involved in project developing
In our January Event, "Best of 2022: CCUS, Alternative Fuels & Novel Energies", we asked our users what topics they wanted to see in future Darcy Coverage. The topic of Carbon Markets was the most selected within the given options, along with the topic of Direct Aire Capture (DAC).
ABOUT THE INNOVATOR
The Darcy team will bring two innovators to present their technologies for this session:
- ClimateVault, a company that was launched in 2021 whose works brings Voluntary Players into the Compliance Carbon Market. The company vaults carbon credits from Compliance Markets and sells them to any player (either subject to the compliance market or not), while at the same time committing to using the money from the credits to invest in Carbon Removal projects in a rate of 1 offset = 1 ton of carbon removed. Bringing actual projects to the compliance space.
- ClearBlue Markets, a company that works in the entire supply chain of Project Development. The company has several offerings in which we can highlight: Nature-based Solutions Project Development, a software to understand your regulatory requirements, market analytics, offset purchase and more. This company has been awarded many prizes for their work in the Carbon Market space and in particular, they have been awarded as the best "Environmental Finance" company the last 2 years. Their team members have also been actively engaged in the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism), and they have developed more than 60 methodologies.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
In this session, you will be exposed to two very different vendors that will shed a light into the difference between compliance and voluntary carbon markets. This session will be valuable for teams who are working in carbon markets, or developing nature-based solutions projects.
