Real-time Frac Optimization with Shear Frac
Technical • November 16, 2022 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM GMT
In this forum we'll get an update from Shear Frac on recent deployments of their real-time frac optimization technology
Oil & Gas
Completions
Subsurface
Summary Agenda

Why is this important: Real-time hydraulic fracturing monitoring and adjustments are one of the few remaining opportunities for a step change in operational efficiency and well productivity for unconventional E&P operators. While real-time solutions exist, adoption by operators has historically been limited for several reasons:

  • Cost: real-time data acquisition via fiber optics is the gold standard but runs from hundreds of thousands to a few million dollars
  • Actionable insights: lower-cost data sources, such as offset pressure monitoring can provide helpful information but do not provide enough granularity to create reliable optimization action plans
  • Speed: Maximum value requires real-time optimization suggestions, however several solutions on the market today only provide post-job or post-stage analysis due to processing speed

Without the ability to make "on-the-fly" adjustments, the O&G industry is reliant on an optimization process that has proven to be effective, but requires significant amounts of time to iterate, leaving significant amounts of resource potential untapped.

What will we be sharing: ShearFrac has sought to directly address these challenges and will show data from several case studies that demonstrate their ability to provide actionable insights at low cost. SP Interests, a user of ShearFrac will also attend the session to provide their unbiased view of the technology as an E&P operator.

Who should attend:

  • E&P operators with unconventional assets looking to improve their completion designs by leveraging real-time data
  • E&Ps seeking a scalable solution to understanding fracture driven interactions
  • Completions and reservoir engineers looking for a low-cost complimentary data source that can help reduce water use and lower costs by pumping stages more quickly
