At this Live Event will be discussing strategies to enable Long-duration energy storage (LDES), main challenges and how to enable fast-response in these systems by combining them with fast-response technologies as flywheels.
Given the low maturity stage of most LDES technologies and lack of testing at utility-scale most utilities are reluctant to these technologies, despite the need to deploy these systems at some point to deal with the intermittency of the increasing amount of renewable energies to the grid. Jerald (Chico) Hunter from Salt River Project (SRP) will be presenting their view on LDES and strategy for the upcoming years.
The presenter for this Event will be Amber Kinetics, showcasing their flywheels with fast-response and black start capabilities. Similar to supercapacitors, flywheels can also be used in hybrid configurations, while this technology provides the quick burst of energy, other energy storage technology can handle the long-term energy needs, enabling an energy storage system with both capabilities.
This event is part of our events in partnership with Indian Energy who is carrying out a project where they will test different energy storage vendors to verify their claims in a real world setting and help de-risk these technologies. They will do this through their Hybrid Modular Storage Solution (HMSS) at the Rapid Integration & Commercialization Unit (RICU) and will be sharing results through one of our Forums by end of the year.
Join us on this Event to learn about your peers' LDES strategy plans, and also get a better understanding of flywheel technology, their fast response capabilities and the benefits they can bring to the grid as part of hybrid systems.
