About the Event
Extended reach wells have seen a surge in popularity as operators seek to maximize reservoir exposure while minimizing surface footprint. With greater completable lateral length in the payzone, production from extended reach wells have driven these laterals to grow from the typical 1-mile lateral to some operators regularly drilling 4-mile laterals.
Completions play a pivotal role in the success of these complex wells. With longer wells, greater challenges naturally arise. Innovative completions tools and techniques are essential for ensuring zonal isolation, maintaining wellbore integrity, and enabling effective reservoir drainage over vast lateral lengths. Leading providers continue to push the boundaries, developing robust solutions to overcome the hurdles posed by extended reach environments. In this event, we'll explore some of these solutions from leading innovators as they share why their offerings can help simplify these growing challenges.
About the Audience
This forum is intended for completion engineers involved in millout operations performed via coil tubing. Though the case studies discussed will have an emphasis on the Permian, the highlighted innovators are appropriate or any basin that does not rely on stickpipe (rig or standalone) for milling frac plugs.
About the Speakers
Thomas Bragaw is the President & CEO of WWT International. With over 40 years of Engineering and Operational experience, Tom started with WWT when Tractors began commercial operations 17 years ago. He has been involved in operations where the tractors have been successfully used for wellbore cleanout, acidizing, logging, perforation, and milling. In 2023 he was promoted to President of the WWT International group of companies. A first mover in the space of coil tubing tractors, Tom has been expanding the technology from the ultra-long laterals of the middle east to the latest extended lateral designs in North American unconventional shale.
Tim Manuel is the Canadian Sales Manager for Thruster Energy Corp (TEC). TEC is a technology and expertise focused operator of downhole tools servicing the North American market with multiple facilities in Alberta, North Dakota, and Texas. TEC specializes in high pressure long lateral extended reach milling with pragmatic equipment designs to maximize ROP and debris removal in cased hole applications. The Universal Jet Thruster (UJT) is a flagship component in TEC’s portfolio combating negative hydraulic effects, aiding in the creation of turbulent flow and reducing chemical usage. Tim has been involved in coil tubing treatment design and downhole tools for over 12 years. Prior to working in CT completions & well interventions, he studied economics and financial mathematics at the University of Victoria.
