About the Topic
Coordination between energy providers in charge of distribution and transmission is essential for ensuring that consumers receive a reliable and consistent supply of electricity. For the electric grid to remain stable and resilient, these two sides of the equation must work together effectively. By closely collaborating, these companies can plan and manage the flow of electrons, avoiding overloads and congestion on the lines. This coordination enables them to balance the demand and supply of electricity across different regions, thereby minimizing the risk of blackouts, enhancing grid reliability and frequency management.
The growing number of incoming DERs poses new challenges and opportunities for both distribution but also transmission system operator to tap into these new flexible assets. By coordinating their efforts, they can plan for the integration of more renewable resources, manage power fluctuations, and optimize the dispatch of electricity from diverse sources.
Leads from NODES Market will share their experience in TSO-DSO coordination and market-based DER management focused on advanced European markets such as Norway, Sweden, Germany and others.
