Summary Agenda

About the Event

Gas flaring remains a significant challenge in oil and gas operations, but conversion technologies are evolving to transform this waste stream into valuable products. This session provides an update on the current state of gas conversion technologies that can produce liquid fuels, specialty chemicals, and other monetizable products from flared or stranded gas.

Multiple conversion pathways are being tested from laboratory concepts to pilot phases. The benefits are compelling: reduced emissions, new revenue streams, and improved asset economics. However, operators face real challenges, including high capital costs, technology reliability concerns, complex logistics for remote deployment, and market access for converted products.

This event will explore where the technology stands today, what's being tested in the field, and how operators are looking into these technologies.

About the innovator

  • Emvolon is an MIT spinout company founded in 2021, taking a new approach to processing methane by repurposing automotive engines to serve as modular chemical plants. The company’s patent-protected technology transforms methane-containing feed gas into high-quality syngas, and subsequently into methanol.

About the speaker

  • Emmanuel Kasseris is the co-founder and CEO of Emvolon. Emmanuel has over twenty years of experience in managing advanced technology projects and raising capital in the energy industry. He has led multiple new energy technologies from concept to full-scale pilot implementation while at Chevron and ConocoPhillips. Emmanuel holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
