About the Topic

One of Darcy's core research areas in Sustainability is methane leak detection technologies. Historically, we’ve covered continuous monitoring and fixed wing aircraft and in 2023, Darcy hosted an Event that highlighted satellites as an interesting solution. Given the increasing regulatory pressures on methane monitoring, including quantification of emissions, in this event, we will cover how the innovative handheld laser OGI technology by Xplorobot can address detection, quantification, and provide a path for compliance.

About the Innovator

Xplorobot offers a laser OGI technology for methane detection and quantification, including a digital platform that tags emissions detected on each piece of equipment by the laser OGI camera and records compliance efficiently. Xplorobot’s technology allows operators to detect, repair and verify compliance in a single site visit with a cost-effective and easy-to-use device.

About the Speakers

Oleg Mikhailov is Xplorobot's CEO and Co-Founder. He began his career at Chevron and spent 13 years serving in increasingly senior roles throughout South Asia and the Gulf of Mexico. From there, Oleg moved to TNK-BP, a partnership between the United Kingdom-based energy giant BP and the Russia-based AAR Consortium, where he rose to vice president of operations and asset management for upstream activities. After that, he became vice president of operations at Bashneft, one of Russia's largest producers of oil and gas. Prior to Xplorobot, he worked as a managing director and partner for AlixPartners and Boston Consulting Group, where he led energy-related projects in the UK, Mexico, and Argentina, as well as throughout North America.

Paul Espenan has more than 35 years of knowledge as an EHS professional in the oil and gas industry and serves currently as a Senior Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Regulatory for Diversified Energy Company. In his role at Diversified, Paul has spearheaded emission quantification, reporting, and reduction, achieving several industry firsts. Under his leadership, Diversified has established a strategy and implementation plan to significantly reduce methane and GHG emissions intensity. Prior to Diversified, Paul held various EHS positions at Halliburton, Burlington Resources, ConocoPhillips, and LINN Energy, also serving as a consultant.
