About the Topic

Darcy provides comprehensive coverage of fugitive emissions innovation across the energy value chain, ranging from preventative measures and leak avoidance to measurement, reporting and verification of emissions. More recently, there have been a number of compelling innovators as the ‘tech stack’ continues to evolve.

In January, Darcy hosted our annual ‘Best Of’ in Sustainability, which featured several emerging innovators within this space. In this session, we will dive deeper into innovation within one of our ‘Best Of’ key themes of Emissions Detection, as we uncover operational aspects of the sensor-based emissions detection landscape.

This session aims to help evaluate the suitability of various emissions measurement methods and technologies as we address topics such as:

  • Specific technologies used for emissions measurements, including insights on accuracy and reliability
  • Suitability of sensor-based technologies for handling episodic events, such as periodic venting and manual liquid unloadings
  • Spatial resolution of measurement technologies
  • Data reporting and analysis capabilities of Internet of Things (IoT) sensor technology
  • Integration of multi-asset, multiscale emission measurements
  • Comparisons on technologies (i.e., “top-down” and “bottom-up” emission estimates)
  • Practical operational requirements and relative implementation costs
  • Potential limitations or challenges
