There's no shortage of lists to summarize the past year. But here at Darcy, we have a unique data set with activity on Darcy Connect from over 10,000 energy company Connect Users. Our data highlights which innovators gained most attention on Darcy Connect through views, clicks, likes, follows, meetings scheduled, funding, among others. Combined with analysis from our Research Team about technology developments and market traction, we have selected the Top 10 Innovators from 2024 in each of our coverage channels. This is our way of saying: "these are the innovators that your peers are most interested in, so you should definitely go and learn more about them".
In this article, you will find the Innovators that made it on the list in the category of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS).
But there is far more detail to look at than what you'll find here:
The Innovator names are all linked to their Storefront, where you can find in-depth information on their products, business models, our Research Team's opinion, and Connect Users are even able to schedule meetings with the Innovators.
Over the next weeks, you will find weekly articles like this with Top 10 lists from our Energy Transition Research Program as we work through the coverage areas of CCUS, Hydrogen, Low Carbon Fuels, and New Energies.
Hydrogen & CCUS articles will be followed by a Darcy Live Event.

The Top 10 Innovators from 2024 in Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage are (in random order):
CARBON MARKETS
Ocean CDR - Electrochemical CO2 Removal
- Equatic: Equatic, a UCLA spinout, has developed a seawater electrolysis technology for atmospheric carbon removal and green hydrogen production. In 2024, it began building a 3,650 tpa CDR facility in Singapore, started manufactured oxygen-selective anodes in the U.S., and secured a partnership in Canada for a 100,000 tpa CDR commecial facility. Equatic has CDR and green hydrogen offtake agreements with global customers including Boeing, Stripe and Ayden.
Direct Air Capture (DAC) - Solvent-based
- 1PointFive: 1PointFive combines Occidental’s carbon management expertise with Carbon Engineering’s Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology. In 2024, it secured $536M in U.S. funding for DAC and sequestration hubs, launched STRATOS construction, and finalized Microsoft’s 500,000-ton carbon removal credit deal.
CARBON CAPTURE
Carbon Capture – Cryogenic
- Carbon America: Carbon America is a carbon capture project and technology development company on a mission to drive meaningful climate impact. The company has developed FrostCC, an innovative cryogenic-based carbon capture technology that advanced to Technology Readiness Level 6 in 2024 after a successful pilot and demonstration at the National Carbon Capture Center (NCCC).
Carbon Capture - Amine-based Solvent
- Carbon Clean: Carbon Clean is a company revolutionizing carbon capture solutions for hard-to-abate industries including cement, steel, refineries, and energy from waste. The company is an innovation company in the CCUS market, with over 105 active patent assets across 18 patent families covering 30 countries, and has developed a modular technology, CycloneCC, that will support scaling industrial carbon capture deployment.
Carbon Capture - Amine-based Solvent
- ION Clean Energy: ION Clean Energy specializes in CO₂ capture with its innovative ICE-31 solvent, achieving 95%-99% capture efficiency. In 2024, the company secured $45 million to advance ICE-31’s deployment, demonstrating its transformative potential for decarbonizing power and industrial sectors.
Carbon Capture - Molten Salts Solid sorbent
- Mantel: Mantel is developing the first molten-salt-based carbon capture technology which is designed to operate at the high temperatures found inside boilers, kilns, and furnaces – enabling highly efficient carbon capture that has not been possible until now. Carbon capture can be applied across industries to reduce emissions - and even achieve net-negative emissions. By solving for efficiency Mantel can cut costs substantially, unlocking carbon capture’s role in reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
CARBON UTILIZATION
Carbon Utilization - Carbon Mineralization
- Neustark: Neustark focuses on carbon dioxide removal via mineralization. It captures CO₂ from biogas plants, integrates it into recycled demolition concrete, and securely stores it as limestone. Operating 19 European sites by 2024, Neustark has sold 120,000 tons of carbon removal, targeting 1 million tons by 2030.
CARBON TRANSPORT & STORAGE
Enabling Tech - Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification
- Mangrove Systems: Mangrove Systems provides a digital MRV platform for CCS and CDR projects, streamlining compliance, monetization, and reporting. Mangrove is supporting a number of large-scale carbon storage projects, including Summit Carbon Solutions, with accelerating project verification, improving traceability, and streamlining commercialization. Mangrove has experience across multiple project pathways, including BECCS, BiCRS, Geologic Storage of CO2, and Biochar, among others.
Carbon Storage - Tensor Strain Sensors
- Tensora: Tensora provides subsurface characterization and monitoring services using novel fiber-optic geophysical sensing technologies. In 2024, they were sponsored by Chevron to launch a pre-commercial pilot for CO2 storage monitoring at the Newell County Facility operated by Carbon Management Canada.
Carbon Storage - In-situ Mineralization
- 44.01: 44.01 turns CO₂ into rock by accelerating the natural process of carbon mineralization. In 2024, they raised $37M for scaling projects and expanded a pilot with ADNOC in the UAE, which mineralized 10 tonnes of CO₂ in under 100 days.
