Continuing with our DER management forum series, next week we will be covering Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) with some big names participating. We'll have Next Kraftwerke presenting their NEMOCS VPP solution targeting both BtM and FtM assets and Eneco - Netherland's biggest utility - as their technology user. Don't miss it!

Back in May, we started our DER management series focusing on DERMS solutions with mPrest as a presenter. Since terminology is vaguely used in the DER space, we've defined this type of solution as an overarching one targeting both different DER asset classes + grid management and topology constraints. If you want to review that session or if you have missed it, you can find the recording here. DERMS can be a nice to have in services areas with low DER penetration but should be taken into account for the upcoming years, specifically with deployments still showing high YoY growth and more pressure from the regulatory side.
Other less comprehensive but easier to deploy solutions - easier doesn't mean easy - can be found in this framework with each one of them having its pros and cons. In that spirit, our last DER forum targeted aggregators focusing on only one asset class and bidding them into the market and providing grid applications as well. In that session we showcased Swell as our presenting innovator who has serveral projects in Hawaii, California and New York targeting the aggregation and management of over 15k residential battery storage assets in total.
Next week on our August 12th forum we will be focusing on Virtual Power Plants which, unlike aggregators, target the management of a diverse set of DERs both behind and front of the meter. This type of technology has been present in Europe for a longer time than in the US so we've decided to bring some relevant experience from the other side of the pond. In this session, we will be having Next Kraftwerke as our technology presenter and Eneco utility as their technology user. Next was founded in 2009 and since then has become a European market leader providing VPP and DER forecasting solutions for over 9 GW of capacity targeting a wide variety of resources such as solar, wind, BtM and FtM storage, electrolyzers, gensets, biogas and many more.
You can sign to the event using this link!. Really looking forward to see you there!
Continuing with our DER coverage, we will be tackling Microgrids in upcoming forums which is not only a debated and hyped topic nowadays but also came on top in our last forums poll results as an interesting topic to cover. You can find an introduction, some impressive recent developments in the space and striking market trends in this blog. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to share your experience or attractive utility project on this topic!
