Hydrogen offtake development vs production scaling has been a "chicken and egg" dilemma: hard to crack. There are several end uses targeted for hydrogen, varying by feasibility & priority, including industrial uses, direct fueling, derivative fuels production, etc. This event will put transportation as an early moving hydrogen application in the spotlight.

Transportation accounts for about 23% of total greenhouse gas emissions, leading to a growing interest by customers to adopt zero-emission vehicles. In this context, electric vehicles (EVs) and non-fossil fuels like methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen are emerging as pivotal opportunities to fuel the market.

Vehicle manufacturers are innovating to implement hydrogen fuels, and refueling infrastructure needs to be developed alongside that. Today, there are over 1,000 operational hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) worldwide, and about 90% of these stations are small-scale, serving primarily light-duty vehicles with capacities of less than 1 ton per day of hydrogen. It is expected that over 6,000 HRS will be needed by 2030.

HRS scales take different roles in market development:

• Small Scale: Represents the largest category, and will keep on with future opportunities and developments, integrating with distributed hydrogen production and remote locations.
• Med-Large Scale: Is the largest-growing category. Scaling hydrogen transportation, storage, and enabling equipment progress is crucial for the success of the industry.

From small to large scale, Wolftank Group has many solutions intended to adapt through the scaling-up journey as the industry progresses. Wolftank Group's HQ is based in Austria and has a global presence, including offices in the US, Brazil, and China.

• Eddy Nupoort from Cavendish Hydrogen will present on Cavendish's role in recent projects in the US, Canada, and Europe, based on standardized modular equipment that can be set up in fixed stations for Light to heavy-duty vehicle refueling with a small footprint. The company provides services from the design to the operational phase. Cavendish Hydrogen's HQ is in Denmark, and they have a global presence.
