Direct Lithium Extraction, or DLE, is a technology space that has emerged lately as a solution to lithium production worldwide in brines. This Event will feature a panel discussion on how different sources of lithium impact extraction.

About the Topic
Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) is a novel, early stage way to produce lithium from diluted brines without the need for evaporation ponds or mining mineral ore. This allows companies to extract lithium from different locations beyond the existing systems limited to South America, Australia and China, helping secure availability. During this Event, we will moderate a panel discussion with 3 speakers that are working in the lithium space. We will discuss hard rock lithium extraction and DLE, the pros and cons of different approaches, and who is developing each of these technologies.
About the Speakers
Our panel includes:
- Emily Hersh from Luna Lithium. Prior to founding Luna, Emily worked for more than 10 years in consulting for lithium projects in Argentina (mainly brine-based) and then shifted her work to the hard rock lithium extraction space. As such, she brings an interesting view on both brine and rock-based lithium extraction technologies.
- Chris Doornbos, President, CEO and Director at E3 Lithium, a DLE technology provider that is working on Canada's largest lithium-in-brine resource.
- Cris Moreno, the Managing Director and CEO at Vulcan Energy, a German lithium and geothermal energy producer that is looking to be the first supplier of geothermal brine-based lithium in the Europe.
About the Audience
This Event is focused to the O&G operators with lithium-rich brines looking to explore this space. Groups in particular would be those working in water reuse and wastewater or produced water treatment. Furthermore, on the Utility side, all those utilities looking to expand their EV vehicle and energy storage systems using li-ion batteries will find this Event instructive in terms of scope 3 emissions and ESG as a whole.
