About the Topic
Data management for electric utilities is becoming increasingly complex; in the United States, intricate systems of smart grid technologies and other connected devices are installed on an aging system of infrastructure. More and more, everyday objects are becoming interconnected (such as household appliances and other consumer electronics); embedded with sensors, and exchanging data with other devices and systems (also known as the Internet of Things, "IOT").
For utilities, monitoring and operating the grid will become increasingly difficult as these connected loads expand; interconnected devices generate quantities of data for utilities to collect, store and manage. The management and utilization of the data generated from these different components of the electrical system will be critical for continued and improved operations.
This Event will explore the concept of "Big Data" management and integration - or, management and integration of data so large and complex that it is not feasible to do so using traditional data processing applications.
About the Innovator
Greenbird is a quickly growing data integration solution provider, with roots in Europe and successful deployments in East Asia, the Middle East, and North America. Thorsten Heller, CEO of Greenbird, will provide an overview of Utilihive, Greenbird's cloud-native big data integration platform, purpose-built for the digital data-driven utility, offered as a managed service (iPaaS). Utilihive provides both the technical infrastructure platform (connectivity, integration, data ingestion, data lake, API management) and pre-configured integration content or 'accelerators' to speed up the delivery of innovative data driven services and simplify operations.
Unlike other common integration platforms, Utilihive is purpose-built for utilities and energy use cases. Tailored to the utility's data model and data processes, Utilihive delivers both technical big data integration infrastructure and pre-configured integration content in one unified platform and experience.
About the Audience
This Event will be relevant to utility distribution system planners and anyone involved with evaluating and deploying DER technologies (e.g., innovation, R&D, customer program design and implementation, strategic planning, corporate strategy, DER developers, etc.). Numerous teams will be impacted by the management of new data sources; load forecasting teams, smart grid management, electric vehicle planners, home energy management, and more.
