About the topic
It's usually said that the cleanest energy is the one that we don't consume. Energy Efficiency mandates established by regulators from state and federal levels foster utilities and other organizations to identify energy efficiency opportunities and design policies and programs suitable to achieve overall decarbonization and net zero goals. Scaling up the deployment of EE measures is particularly challenging when, for example, C&I customers that aren't energy experts are told to spend their tight budgets on retrofitting a chiller or fridge instead of spending those dollars on refreshing the look of their restaurant. The "as a service" model moves the responsibility from them to true energy experts that can take care of the job and, sometimes even more importantly, finance these asset deployments and manage operations if needed. For unregulated arms of utility businesses, companies playing in this sector can be interesting partners to develop new and well-rounded internal offerings.
