As a part of our Energy Transition Program we have so far addressed Hydrogen production and transportation, Carbon Capture and Geothermal Energy. In this case, we will be addressing the remaining Energy Transition Topic Tag: Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) or Biogas.
RNG is produced from a wide variety of feedstocks, from which we can highlight waste-water, agricultural wastes, animal manure and urban solid wastes. This is mainly methane and can be used as a fuel. However, since these feedstocks would already produce emissions, the use of RNG as a fuel is actually carbon negative and can widely reduce reduce emissions across the entire life cycle.
In this session, Darcy will provide an overview of RNG, analyzing the reaction pathway and economics and will also outline some of the challenges presented by this fuel. Nacelle will then present their gas conditioning technology, that has placed them as one of the eight fastest growing biogas businesses in the US.
