There's no shortage of lists to summarize the past year. But here at Darcy, we have a unique data set with activity on Darcy Connect from over 10,000 energy company Connect Users. That data shows which innovators saw the most activity on Darcy Connect in the form of views, clicks, likes, follows, meetings scheduled, etc.. Combined with analysis from our Research Team about technology developments and market traction, we have selected the Top 10 Innovators from 2021 in each of our coverage channels. This is our way of saying: "these are the innovators that your peers are most interested in, so you should definitely go and learn more about them". In this article, you will find the Innovators that made it on the list in the category of Transportation Electrification.
But there is far more to detail to look at than what you'll find here.
- The Innovator names are all linked to their Storefront, where you can find in-depth information on their products, business model, our Research Team's opinion, and Connect Users are even able to schedule meetings with the Innovators.
- Utility users of these technology companies will share their experience deploying these solutions during the Transportation Electrification: Top Technologies from 2021 Darcy Live Event that will take place on January 13th at 10am CST.
- In the month of January you will find weekly articles like this with Top 10 lists from our Oil & Gas, Power & Utilities, Sustainability, and Energy Transition research programs.
- All articles will be followed by a Darcy Live Event. On the Event page, you can find the full Darcy Live schedule for Q1.
The Top 10 Innovators from 2021 in the Transportation Electrification space are (in random order):
- ev.energy: ev.energy is a software platform that wirelessly manages EV charging across chargers and vehicles. APIs, algorithm and customer-friendly app provides load-shifting and demand response to networks/utilities, saves customers money off their energy bills, and reduces carbon emissions.
- WeaveGrid: Weave Grid works with utilities and electric vehicle owners to enable and accelerate the electrification of transportation. Using machine learning, optimization, and predictive analytics, Weave Grid solves several EV-grid integration challenges for utilities in a systems-oriented manner.
- ampcontrol: Optimization Software (cloud-based controller) that optimizes the charging of electric vehicles and batteries to reduce charging costs and increase the reliability of the grid. ampcontrol helps Charge Point Operators (CPO), developers, fleet operators, and utilities to use Big Data for EV charging.
- Nuvve: Nuvve is accelerating the electrification of transportation through its proprietary vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. Nuvve's Grid Integrated Vehicle, GIVe™, platform is refueling the next generation of electric vehicle fleets through intelligent, bidirectional charging solutions.
- Fermata Energy: Fermata offers an integrated V2X solution. It provides the first UL 9741 certified bidirectional charger (15kw). Company also provides software solution for V2X charger management, and the expertise to support customers in developing and deploying V2X use cases.
- dcbel: dcbel (previously Ossiaco) provides a residential electric vehicle charger. The charger is bi-directional and allows for integration with solar inverters and a home energy management platform to create an integrated system.
- ChargeWay: Chargeway is a software and communication solution that improves the electric car customer experience with “electric fuel”. Chargeway’s unique UI/UX simplifies plug types (colors) and power levels (numbers) offering users an easier way to use charging options.
- Freewire Technologies: FreeWire provides flexible battery-backed solutions for electric vehicles and other industrial applications. The Boost Charger enables ultrafast charging using the same infrastructure required for level 2 chargers by combining lithium-ion battery with 160KWh charging.
- Amply: AMPLY offers commercial fleet operators charge management software and an all-in-one EV charging-as-a-service approach to help fleets transition to electric vehicles. The company was acquired by BP in 2021 but will continue to operate independently as part of BP's global portfolio of business.
- Electriphi (now Ford-Pro Charging): Electriphi develops EV fleet and energy management solutions that save energy costs, increase reliability, and simplifies the transition to electric vehicle fleets. The company was acquired by Ford in 2021 and is now called Ford Pro Charging.
Do let us know if you have any questions or comments about this list in the comment section below.
In addition to wrapping up 2021, January is also the month that we are setting our research priorities for 2022. We are member driven and focused on solving your challenges. So I'm inviting you to share your topics of interest with us in the very short survey below, or in the comment section for additional priorities. You could even share any links to road map documents (or send them to lennart@darcypartners.com)!
